All About: Taking Care of Your Hair

Hey lovelies!
We all wish we could have big lips and clear pale skin and dark structured eyebrows and blue eyes and long gorgeous hair, but sadly we can't get everything we want for the world is not a wish-granting factory (see what I did there) but let's take this one body part at a time. We're done with luscious lip tips here and more lip stuff here. Now let's see what we can do about that hair of yours.

Basic tips to get thicker hair are your usual:

  1. Egg-cellant : Hahaha. Seriously though, beat up and egg or two depending on your hair length and apply it to wet hair and leave it for 5-10 minutes then wash it with Luke water and shampoo. You can do this 3-4 times a week!
  2. Avocado-es-the-trick: Mix an avocado and a banana and apply it to your hair for 30 minutes. Then wash thoroughly with shampoo and conditioner.
  3. Coconut Oil: Everyone knows regularly massaging your scalp with coconut oil makes your hair thicker.
Now the only natural remedy I know for oily hair is Orange juice and it works for dandruff as well. Take orange peels and mash them into a pulp. Use this pulp as a hair pack once a week. Or mix an equal amount of orange juice and apple puree and apply it to your hair for 30 minutes and wash thoroughly This is only if you want growth.
Products to help your oily hair:
  1. Aveda Pure Abundance Hair Potion.
  1. Bumble and Bumble Sumo-wax It provides hair with movement and a natural look. Also doesn't weigh down hair!
  1. Neutrogena Anti-residue Shampoo. Removes any residue and helps prevent oily hair from looking oily!
Another thing that could affect your oily hair is your diet "Ugh, again with the food" I know. It sucks, but we need to make compromises. So here's what you can do:
  1. Eat a lot of foods rich in B vitamins for they help regulate sebum production which the extensiveness of is what causes greasy and oily hair. Like beans. Or take pills!
  2. Follow a low sugar diet.
  3. Limit consumption of dairy products.
Another thing a lot of girls tend to suffer from is greasy hair. Now greasy hair is caused by:1. Genetic predisposition towards greasy, oily scalp that migrates through the hair. 2. Normal hair without genetic predisposition towards greasiness that is treated with improper hair care products which cause oily/greasy scalp with or without oily/greasy strands.3. Lack of regular and consistent hair cleansing which results in the build-up of toxins, dirt and other substances resulting in greasy strands.
To help reduce greasiness of hair :
  1. Keep conditioners away from scalp and condition the middle and ends of hair.
  2. Shampoo daily if necessary using specific hair care shampoos of course.
  3. Focus oil removing shampoos and products only on scalp while layering shampoo on the middle and ends and rinse using cool water.
  4. Only comb and touch hair when really necessary.
Also make sure not to touch your face that often and put your hair up as often as possible because skin oils can easily be transferred via the tresses to the scalp and vice-versa. This only makes the situation worse.

If you've got dry hair then:
  1. Use moisturizing products once a week. Look for hydrator moisturizer on the bottle. Basically you apply the product after shampooing, gently drying, applying a reconstructor and drying again. You're meant to wrap your hair in a plastic wrap and leave it for 10-15 mins then rinse it and blow dry.
  2. Apply serum or light oil which is the best but coconut oil can be used too at night so that it could rest and spread (for at least 12 hours)
  3. Let your hair naturally dry.
  4. Use soft brushes when brushing your hair. Preferably with a sponge base.
  5. Cut your hair's ends every 6-8 weeks. Those split ends need their regular cutting!
If you have dyed your hair:
  1. Use shampoo/ Conditioner (helps restore moisture) for color-treated hair.
  2. Wear a hat if you're staying out in the sun for a long time or make sure to apply products that product your hair from the sun for it's ultra-violet rays cause hair color to fade if hair is exposed to them for a long time
  3. Minimize blow-drying time. Stop before your hair is completely dry to help it preserve moisture.
  4. Concentrate on applying more moisture if it's color-treated blonde, color maintenance if it's color-treated red, and color enhancement if its color-treated brown.
Basically to have good hair you have to care for it like it's your little baby. A holographic fat baby. Increase your vitamin intake, get regular hair cuts, maintain a healthy life style, read what's written on a product before buying it and then buy it and give it a whirl, continually use shampoo and conditioner and always remember to walk the walk and work that hair. Stay pretty xx
